The education budget is foundational to the success of Trumbull students. It begins with a presentation from the Superintendent and moves through several stages where public feedback is welcomed and encouraged. Parent and community voices at each step help ensure the budget reflects the needs of our students.
Here are the steps you can take to participate:

Visit the Board of Education site to review the presentations.

Email town officials with your feedback on the budget.

Attend the presentation March 3rd. Dr. Semmel will present the budget to the Board of Finance. We are encouraging parents to be present. Wear school colors. Show your support.

A sincere thank you to all who attended on March 3rd! Hundreds of residents attended between town hall chambers, the hallway where people waited to get in and online participants.

Speak at the Board of Finance Hearing on March 12th or March 21st. The First Selectman proposed a 4% budget increase for 26-27. This would mean Dr. Semmel would have to find $2.72M to cut.

March 12th had roughly 30 presenters speak in favor of prioritizing the BOE budget allocation. Please show up March 21st!

March 24th attend the Board of Finance Meeting where they vote on line items. At this session the Board of Finance voted to add $500K back to the Board of Education line item. |

Continue to email town officials in support of the budget.

Attend meeting on April 8 at Town Council Chambers at 7pm. Dr. Semmel and team will present the BOE budget to members of the Finance Committee of the Town Council.

Speak at the Town Council Finance Committee Public Hearing April 27 at 6:00 p.m. Currently the BOE budget will need to make $2.2M in reductions. While this committee can not increase the line item allocation, they can decrease it. Please share your thoughts in person, virtually or through email.

On Wednesday, April 29, the Finance Committee of the Town Council will vote on the entire Trumbull budget. This meeting will be held at Town Hall Chambers beginning at 7 PM.

On Wednesday, May 6, the Town Council will vote on the entire Trumbull budget. This meeting will be held at Town Hall Chambers beginning at 7 PM.

The Board of Education voted on tiered bussing as a cost-saving measure. The vote did not pass and was split 4-4. On Tuesday, May 19, Dr. Semmel will present the final list of cuts and the Board of Education will vote.
