The ABC's of the Board of education Budget

The Trumbull Board of Education’s 2026–2027 budget is underway. Parent voices are essential—follow the process, attend meetings, contact officials, and share your story at public hearings. Learn more here and find out how to get involved.

Here is a sample of a message you can share with PTA Units to promote awareness of their chance to be heard.

The education budget is foundational to the success of Trumbull students. It begins with a presentation from the Superintendent and moves through several stages where public feedback is welcomed and encouraged. Parent and community voices at each step help ensure the budget reflects the needs of our students.

Here are the steps you can take to participate:

Visit the Board of Education site to review the presentations
Email town officials with your feedback on the budget.
Attend the presentation March 3rd. Dr. Semmel will present the budget to the Board of Finance. We are encouraging parents to be present. Wear school colors. Show your support.
A sincere thank you to all who attended on March 3rd! Hundreds of residents attended between town hall chambers, the hallway where people waited to get in and online participants.
Speak at the Board of Finance Hearing on March 12th or March 21st. The First Selectman proposed a 4% budget increase for 26-27. This would mean Dr. Semmel would have to find $2.72M to cut.
March 12th had roughly 30 presenters speak in favor of prioritizing the BOE budget allocation. Please show up March 21st!
Email town officials in support of the budget.
